Plays a pivotal role in steel production. Its high carbon and low impurity content, along with excellent coking properties

Types of coal

Coal comes in several distinct types, each with its own unique properties and applications:

Lignite Coal

Lignite, or "brown coal," has the highest moisture content and the lowest energy density among coal types. It is primarily used in power generation where its abundant supply can compensate for its lower energy content.

Coking Coal

This high-quality coal is essential for the production of steel. It is heated in coke ovens to produce coke, a critical ingredient in the steelmaking process.

Anthracite Coal

This is the highest quality and hardest coal, often referred to as "hard coal." It has a high carbon content and low impurities, making it ideal for residential heating and industrial applications where clean and consistent heat is required.

Bituminous Coal

Bituminous coal is widely used in electricity generation and as a fuel in industrial processes. It offers a balance between energy output and ease of combustion, making it a versatile choice.

SubBituminous Coal

With a lower carbon content than bituminous coal, sub-bituminous coal is commonly used in power plants for electricity generation due to its relatively lower emissions and cost-effectiveness.
